Getting Treatment From an STI Clinic

It can be quite embarrassing to test for sexually transmitted diseases and infections for most people. Even when one notices symptoms of a sexually transmitted infection, it can take a while to finally make a decision to see a general practitioner or visit a clinic for treatment and assistance. Going to a Genitourinary medicine clinic (GUM) is another daunting task as these specifically specialize in testing for and treatment of sexually transmitted infections. STI Clinics have become an answer for most sexually transmitted symptoms and diagnosis.

STI Clinics are quite confidential when dealing with patients. While it is usually embarrassing to find oneself with symptoms bordering sexually transmitted diseases, most of these infections are easily curable and treated. In an STI Clinic, one needs not make an appointment, in most STI clinics, patients simply turn up and are attended to.

For those in society who want to keep even their identities confidential, the STI clinics are not too particular about cross checking identity. If one feels uncomfortable giving their personal details, false names can be used. However all the information given to the STI clinic remains confidential and is not shared even with one’s general practitioner (GP). (more...)

The Importance of a Blood Alcohol Test

When a person is involved in an accident, one of the first things that the police will ask is whether one has been drinking. The reason for this is that most motor accidents are caused by drunk drivers, and asking the question to a driver who has caused an accident is only logical. Therefore, the test may reveal that one has been drinking, or that they are sober, and the accident was not their fault.

When one is tested for alcohol, the blood alcohol test is usually used in order to determine the level of alcohol one has. The test involves getting a sample of blood, from a person and getting it tested for any traces of alcohol. There are people who usually have a lot of alcohol to be deemed legally drunk, but there are people who do not usually have traces of alcohol, and they may be deemed safe to drive.

Therefore, a Blood Alcohol Test is important because it goes to show whether a driver was responsible for an accident, or not. In fact, in a court case, a driver can be able to prove that they were sober by going for an alcohol blood test. This is because it is believed that alcohol when it reaches a certain limit in blood will usually lead to impaired driving and judgements, and this causes car accidents. (more...)
